Cookie Policy
Last updated July 4, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Novana Index, operated by 不落教育科技株式会社 (Uni Education Technology Co. Ltd, operator of Novana) (“we,” “us,” or “our”), uses cookies and similar technologies on the Novana Index website at index.novana.io (the “Directory”). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
The short version: The Directory runs cookieless by default. We measure usage anonymously without cookies unless you choose “Accept,” in which case we use cookie-based analytics to help us improve. We never use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and you can change your choice at any time using .
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work and to provide information to site owners. Similar technologies include pixels, web beacons, and browser local storage.
2. How the Directory uses cookies
Novana Index has no user accounts and no login, so there are no authentication or session cookies. We do not use advertising, retargeting, or social-media tracking cookies. Our use is limited to the following:
| Category | Provider | Needs consent? | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | Novana Index | No | Remembering your cookie choice, and non-tracking storage needed to display the site correctly |
| Analytics | PostHog | Yes (only if you accept) | Understanding aggregate usage of the Directory to improve it |
| Advertising / targeting | None | — | We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking |
Analytics
We use PostHog to understand aggregate usage of the Directory, for example how many people view a region. Before you choose, and if you decline, analytics runs in a privacy-preserving, cookieless mode: it keeps no cookie or persistent identifier on your device, does not capture form input, and does not record your session. If you accept, we enable full cookie-based analytics. For more information, see the PostHog Privacy Policy.
3. How we obtain and manage consent
Essential storage (including remembering your choice) is required for the Directory to work as you expect, so no consent is needed. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them through the cookie banner shown on your first visit. Before you choose, and if you decline, we measure visits in the cookieless, anonymous mode described above and set no analytics cookies.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using (also linked in the site footer), or by contacting us at support@novana.io.
4. Your other choices
Most web browsers also let you control storage through their settings. You can typically:
- view what is stored on your device;
- delete individual or all cookies and site data;
- block cookies or site data; and
- configure your browser to notify you when something is stored.
The Directory is designed to work without cookies, so blocking them should not stop you using it.
Do-Not-Track signals
Some browsers include a “Do Not Track” (DNT) feature. Because there is no universally accepted standard for responding to DNT signals, we do not currently respond to them; instead, we default to cookieless measurement until you tell us otherwise.
5. Updates to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
