The school offers the IB continuum of programmes for students aged 3 to 18, divided into Preschool (ages 3-5), Elementary School (ages 5-11), Middle School (ages 11-14), and High School (ages 14-18). The curriculum is concept-based and designed to foster inquiry, critical thinking, and collaboration. Additionally, the school hosts La Petite French School d’Aberdeen, a home language programme offered in both English and French.

The school is an IB World School, with the High School programme culminating in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, which is globally recognised for university entry. The school also maintains dual accreditation from the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Middle States Association (MSA), the latter of which formally accredits the US High School Diploma. Students are encouraged to develop personal leadership qualities and advocacy skills, supported by initiatives such as student reflection portfolios and peer mediation.

The school employs a child-centred ecosystem of care that prioritises whole-child wellbeing, supporting physical, social, and emotional health. Two full-time counsellors are available to assist middle and high school students with academic scheduling and the transition process. Additionally, the school provides personalised university and career guidance for older students.

The school operates a year-round open enrolment policy with rolling entry, though applications for the start of the academic year in August are recommended by May 1st. The process involves an online application, a £50 application fee, and potential assessments or meetings with the Principal to determine grade placement. Upon acceptance, new students are supported by counsellors and a Parent Teacher Organisation (PTO) network, with a buddy system in place for the first few weeks.

The school year runs from August to June. The campus is open for wraparound care from 7:15 am until 6:00 pm.

Located on a green, leafy campus in Pitfodels, the school features a blend of traditional granite architecture and modern, purpose-built facilities. Key amenities include two teaching wings with flexible classrooms, fully equipped science labs, visual and performing art studios, a multi-level library, and a 300-seat theatre. Outdoor spaces include woods, courtyards, playparks, and two tennis courts, alongside the sports complex.

The Encore! programme provides a dynamic range of after-school clubs, sports, and activities, including seasonal sports teams, a jazz band, and drama. Facilities for these activities include a 25-metre swimming pool, an 8-metre climbing wall, two fitness centres, a dance studio, and FIFA-grade all-weather playing fields. The school also hosts community-based programmes such as the ISA Aberdeen Swimming club.
