Asker International School

Asker International School aims to develop versatile, responsible global citizens through an inquiry-driven and learner-centred approach. The school emphasizes high expectations, critical thinking, and the development of core life skills, including oracy, digital wisdom, and emotional regulation, within a secure and diverse community.

The school is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) to deliver the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for grades 1-5 and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for grades 6-10. The academic offering also includes an Upper Secondary and Diploma Programme.

The school maintains an inclusion policy and provides a dedicated nurse's office to support student health. The curriculum incorporates explicit instruction in emotional regulation and life skills to support student wellbeing.

Applications for available places are processed on a continuous basis. Prospective families are encouraged to apply through the school's website, and the school maintains a waiting list when specific grades are full.

The school operates on a weekly schedule with specific dismissal times: PYP students finish at 15:00 Monday through Thursday, while MYP students finish at 15:30. On Fridays, all students finish at 12:20. After-school services (SFO) are available, with Friday sessions concluding at 16:30.

Located at Gamle Borgenvei 3 in Asker, the campus includes classrooms, a theatre, and a nurse's office. Recent and ongoing developments include the construction of new classrooms and a theatre in Block C, as well as playground enhancements such as higher fencing and plans for a small football pitch. Students are expected to have indoor shoes and appropriate outdoor clothing for daily breaks.

The school offers a variety of clubs and after-school services to complement the academic programme. Students participate in activities such as robotics, as evidenced by the school's involvement in global robotics events and the First Lego League.
