GIBS provides an eight-year bilingual programme (Grades 5–12) leading to the Austrian Matura, with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme available in grades 11 and 12. Instruction is conducted in English using a "flexible monolingualism" approach, with additional language offerings including French, Spanish, Latin, and Russian. The curriculum integrates cross-curricular projects, workshops, and portfolios, with specific emphasis on key skills such as academic writing, presentation techniques, and computing.

The school provides extensive support for students learning German as a second language (DaZ), with courses aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) from levels A1 to C1. A peer-tutoring system, known as GIBSCARE, allows students to receive academic assistance from older students. Additionally, Year 1 students are supported by older student "companions" to assist with their transition into the school.

Prospective students may apply for entry into Year 1 (Grade 5) or higher grades. New students participate in an informal interview at the start of the school year to determine appropriate course placement, particularly for German language proficiency. The school provides specific guidance for admissions into the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for students entering grades 11 and 12.

The school operates on a standard academic year, with office hours maintained Monday through Friday from 07:45 to 15:00. The school year includes scheduled breaks, such as summer and winter holidays, during which administrative office hours may be adjusted. Students participate in various events throughout the year, including international debate tournaments, language festivals, and intercultural project exchanges.

The campus features a library containing over 10,000 books, a gymnasium, and specialized areas for catering and administration. The school grounds include outdoor spaces for relaxation and sports, such as grass areas for ball games. The facility is equipped with IT resources and media equipment to support the curriculum, and students have access to lockers for personal belongings.

GIBS offers a variety of afternoon activities, including choir, drama, debate club, soccer, and basketball. Students may also participate in peer tutoring, gardening, climate action classes, and board games. The school emphasizes international engagement through Erasmus+ projects, UNESCO initiatives, and student exchange partnerships with schools in countries such as France, Spain, Canada, and the United States.
