Colegio Gran Bretaña

Colegio Gran Bretaña is built upon the values of an international school community, focusing on a holistic, inclusive, and academically challenging experience. Its vision is defined by being "Intentionally International, Actively Academic, Deliberately Diverse, Purposefully Personalised, and Consciously Caring." Eight "Foundation Blocks" guide daily life, fostering global citizenship, empathy, and independent thinking.

The school offers a structured international curriculum: the VESS programme for Nursery and Reception, the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) for Years 1–6, and the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) for Years 7–9. Secondary students pursue the Cambridge IGCSE in Years 10–11 and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in Years 12–13. The curriculum also includes Spanish language and Colombian cultural studies.

The admissions process involves an application form, teacher references, and an application fee. Applicants participate in interviews and observations, with students from Year 3 to Year 13 completing the iDAT and a writing test. The school follows a Northern Hemisphere calendar (August to June) and reviews applications weekly through an Admissions Committee.

Located on the northern outskirts of Bogotá, the campus features rustic, "Hacienda"-style architecture. Facilities include well-equipped classrooms, dedicated spaces for Design & Technology, Drama, Art, Music, and ICT, and access to nearby country sports clubs for activities like swimming, skating, horse riding, and various court sports. The school also owns a private sporting club, Club Retiro de San Juan, located approximately 2 km away.

The school offers a range of co-curricular activities and performing arts programmes integrated into the school day. These activities are designed to nurture creativity, teamwork, and a lifelong love of learning. Students also participate in sporting events and artistic festivals through the Union of International Schools.
