LEAF Academy (Akadémia LEAF)

LEAF Academy is built on values with a strong emphasis on character development, leadership, and entrepreneurship. It aims to cultivate 21st-century skills and cultural competency by fostering a diverse community where students learn and live together. The school encourages initiative, self-awareness, and a commitment to helping others.

The school offers a 4-year high school program and a 2-year diploma program, both featuring an American-style curriculum. Core subjects include Entrepreneurial Leadership, STEM, Central European Studies, and Character Development. Students in their final two years take university-level Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and the school is approved to offer the AP Capstone Diploma™ program.

The school prepares students for university-level work through its rigorous academic curriculum and the AP Capstone Diploma™ program. Graduates are supported by university and career counseling services to assist in their transition to higher education.

The school provides comprehensive student support, including academic advising, university and career counseling, and wellbeing workshops. A dedicated team, including a school psychologist and student support staff, ensures the personal and academic development of each student. Residential faculty and dorm parents provide additional guidance and supervision for boarding students.

Admission is based on merit, with the school offering both 4-year and 2-year high school programs. The selection process includes an application, a study readiness and English language test, a personality questionnaire, and an interview. International students must demonstrate financial means for visa purposes, while Slovak citizens may apply for need-based tuition reductions.

The school operates on an academic year basis, with applications for the upcoming year typically accepted from November until June, or until capacity is reached. Campus visits for prospective families are available through February.

The academic campus is housed in a historic building on Fraňa Kráľa street in Bratislava, featuring classrooms, a library, and an outdoor terrace. Boarding students reside at the Astra Hotel, which provides double rooms, common study and kitchen areas, laundry facilities, and 24-hour nursing support. The school maintains strict security, including controlled access to academic and residential areas.

Students participate in a variety of clubs, sports, and experiential activities designed to foster leadership and interpersonal skills. The program includes offsite activities, weekend events, and workshops, with day students encouraged to participate alongside their boarding peers.
