British International School of Stavanger (BISS) Gausel

BISS Preschool provides an inquiry-driven, play-based programme for children aged 18 months to 6 years, integrated with the Norwegian Framework Plan. The primary and secondary schools are IB World Schools offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for ages 6–11 and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for ages 12–16. The curriculum includes subjects such as language and literature (English and Norwegian), language acquisition (French, German, Spanish, and Norwegian), individuals and societies, integrated science, mathematics, arts, design, and physical and health education.

The schools emphasize learning diversity, equity, and inclusion across their primary and secondary programmes. Dedicated support is integrated into the educational experience to ensure all students can access the curriculum and thrive within the international community.

Applications for all three schools are managed by a centralized, remote Admissions Department. The process requires creating a parent profile via the online portal, with separate applications needed for each child and each school. Priority is given based on specific criteria, including current enrollment, sibling status, staff children, and previous international school experience.

The school operates on a standard academic year, with term dates and SFO (after-school care) calendars published for each campus. Summer holidays typically occur during July and August. Detailed calendars for BISS Preschool, BISS Gausel, and BISS Sentrum are available through the school's online portals.

BISS Preschool is located on the Gausel campus, near the Gausel woods, local petting farms, and the Gandsfjord beaches, featuring multiple outdoor play and activity areas. BISS Gausel is also situated on the Gausel campus, while BISS Sentrum is located in the centre of Stavanger. Both primary and secondary campuses provide dedicated learning environments, with BISS Sentrum scheduled to relocate to the Gauselbakken site starting in the 2027-28 academic year.

BISS Gausel and BISS Sentrum offer various clubs and extra-curricular activities for students. These programmes are designed to complement the academic curriculum and provide opportunities for student engagement outside of the classroom.
