The board is rooted in Catholic teachings and is committed to welcoming, embracing, and educating every student. Its mission focuses on advancing student achievement, fostering faith formation, and promoting equity and inclusion through a culturally responsive approach. The board emphasizes environmental stewardship and the development of responsible global citizens.

The board offers a wide range of academic pathways, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, French Immersion, and an Elementary STEM program. Secondary students can access specialized pathways such as the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM), the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), and Co-operative Education (CO-OP). Additionally, the board provides Adult Education, e-Learning, and various Skilled Trades sectors, including construction, industrial/manufacturing, and motive power.

The board is committed to the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations, which serve as the desired outcomes for all students. These expectations aim to prepare students to become discerning believers, as well as confident, caring, and contributing citizens. The board also tracks student achievement through EQAO assessments.

The board provides a multi-tiered system of support for student mental health and well-being, utilizing evidence-based practices. Specialized programming includes English as a Second Language (ESL) for elementary, secondary, and adult students, as well as dedicated support for students with special needs. Additionally, the board employs Indigenous Success Coaches and Graduation Coaches for Black, African, and Caribbean students to support diverse learner populations.

The board accepts registrations for Kindergarten, Grades 1-8, and Grades 9-12. Students new to the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board must register, while those currently enrolled who wish to transfer should contact their school directly. Specialized support is available for newcomers to Canada through the Supervisor of Newcomer Services.

The board provides academic calendars for both elementary and secondary levels, with schedules available for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years. These calendars include professional activity days and other important dates for the school community.

The board manages a range of facilities and actively seeks community partnerships to maximize the use of public infrastructure and reduce operating costs. These facilities include schools and specialized learning centers, such as the St. Anne Catholic Skilled Trades Academy & Learning Centre. The board also maintains a scent-free Catholic Education Centre.

The board offers a variety of sports academies, including baseball, basketball, dance, hockey, and soccer. Students may also participate in the Muskoka Woods Experience and various school-based sports through WECSSAA and elementary sports programs. Additionally, students are required to complete 40 hours of community involvement.
