The school offers a continuous educational journey from Nursery (ages 2-4) through Pre-Prep (ages 4-7), Prep School (ages 7-11), and Senior School (ages 11-16). The curriculum integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) with a strong focus on digital literacy, utilizing 1:1 devices and Microsoft tools. Senior pupils follow a broad and balanced GCSE programme, supported by an Aspire Higher Programme and a dedicated careers education pathway.

The school consistently achieves results that exceed national expectations across all age groups, including at the 11+ and GCSE levels. In 2025, 48.7% of GCSE grades were 7-9, and the school was ranked 9th in The Times Parent Power Guide 2026 for independent secondary schools without sixth forms. Pupils are prepared for successful transitions to their preferred 16+ educational pathways, including grammar schools.

The school provides an inclusive environment with a dedicated Learning Support Department led by the SENDCo. Support is tailored to individual needs, with intervention and support practitioners available to assist pupils in achieving their potential.

The school welcomes enquiries via its admissions team and offers various entry points from Nursery through to Year 11. Prospective families are encouraged to attend open days, play-and-learn mornings for toddlers, or book a personal tour with the Headteacher. A non-refundable registration fee and an acceptance deposit are required, with additional requirements and fees applicable for international pupils.

The school operates on a three-term structure: Autumn, Spring, and Summer. Terms typically commence in early September, early January, and mid-April, with half-term breaks scheduled in October, February, and May/June. Each term concludes with a half-day finish.

Located in central Colchester, the campus features purpose-built science and technology labs, a performing arts block with music and drama rooms, and a state-of-the-art Innovation Room. The 2024 STEAM Centre of Excellence includes maker-spaces for robotics, electronics, textiles, food science, broadcasting, and film/media. Outdoor facilities include an Early Years garden, woodland areas, and an Eco classroom, while off-site partnerships provide access to swimming pools, athletics tracks, and sports pitches.

Pupils participate in a wide range of enrichment activities, including sports such as football, cricket, tennis, hockey, rugby, and swimming, as well as gymnastics and dance. Creative and performing arts opportunities include music, drama, and dance, supported by peripatetic music lessons. Additionally, pupils engage in national competitions and award schemes, such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Arts Awards, Crest Awards, and the English Speaking Board examinations.
