International School of Dakar (ISD)

Guided by the motto "Challenge, Create, Change," the school aims to cultivate resilient problem-solvers who are committed to serving others. Its core values are respect, integrity, empathy, and responsibility, with a mission to nurture individual growth, foster diverse perspectives, and promote global citizenship.

As an IB World Continuum School, the institution is authorized to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for Pre-K to Grade 5, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for Grades 6-10, and the Diploma Programme (DP) for Grades 11-12. The curriculum is delivered in English, with small class sizes ranging from 12 to 20 students, and includes a 1:1 device program to support tailored learning.

The school is resourced to support a managed number of students with mild to moderate learning differences. Support for students with higher levels of need is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, depending on the availability of resources within the Learning Support team.

The school operates a rolling admissions policy, with applications for the following academic year opening on January 1st. The process includes an online application, submission of school records, a confidential recommendation, and an academic screening in math, reading, and writing. Final grade placement and admission decisions are determined by the Principal following a review by the Admissions Committee and, in some cases, an interview.

The academic year at the International School of Dakar runs from mid-August to mid-June. The school provides downloadable academic calendars for future years through its website.

Located in the Mermoz neighborhood of Dakar, the eight-acre campus features modern classrooms, a library, and well-equipped science and computer labs. Arts facilities include a 350-seat theater, a black-box theater, an art studio, and a pottery room. Sports amenities consist of a gymnasium, a sports field, a swimming pool, two courts, and a track, alongside a Design and Innovation Center equipped with robotics and 3D printers.

The school offers a variety of after-school and weekend activities, supported by its dedicated sports and arts facilities. Athletics are a key component of school life, and the school participates in the WAISAL (West Africa International Schools Activities League) network.
