Elonera Montessori School

The school utilizes a Montessori approach that emphasizes multi-age classrooms to encourage collaborative learning, independence, and personal growth. Younger students learn from older peers, while older students reinforce their knowledge through mentoring. The school’s educational journey is divided into stages: Early Years (12 months to 6 years), Primary School (Kindergarten to Year 6), and High School (Year 7 to Year 12). Early years include the Parent Toddler Program, NIDO, and Long Day Care, while the Primary School curriculum covers literacy, numeracy, science, cultural studies, and the arts. The High School program progresses from a broad curriculum in Years 7 and 8 to elective-based, self-directed learning in Years 9 and 10, culminating in the IB Diploma or IB Careers Programme for students in Years 11 and 12.

The school prepares students for university and beyond through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and the IB Careers Programme. These pathways are designed to foster critical thinking, global-mindedness, and intercultural understanding, providing students with a competitive advantage for future studies and career opportunities. The curriculum emphasizes intellectual, personal, emotional, and social growth to ensure students are equipped for life beyond the classroom.

The school follows a standardized enrolment process for all levels, beginning with an online application. Prospective families meet with a coordinator, participate in a teacher meet-and-greet, and may have their child attend a trial day to ensure the environment is a suitable fit. Offers of enrolment are sent via email, and placement is confirmed upon the completion of required documentation and payment of fees. While the school prioritizes enrolment from age three, it considers applications for all ages, excluding the final years of primary school, provided space is available.

The school operates on a four-term academic year. In 2026, the NIDO and Long Day Care programs commence on 8th January, while Kindergarten through Year 12 students begin on 2nd February. The academic year concludes for K-12 students on 11th December, with Long Day Care services ending on 16th December.

Students in Stages 4 and 5 (Years 7–10) participate in weekly occupations classes, which focus on developing hands-on, physical life skills. These classes provide opportunities for students to contribute their time and effort to specific projects, school initiatives, or community relationships. Additionally, the school offers various activities that may incur extra costs, including sports, excursions, and camps.
