Galle International College

Galle International College is a 'Learning Community' that promotes the core values of respect, responsibility, and safety. It aims to develop globally aware, socially responsible citizens by fostering an environment of mutual support, tolerance, and open communication. The school is dedicated to preparing students for life beyond the classroom by encouraging them to aim high and work hard.

The school follows the English National Curriculum and is a Cambridge International School, offering the four stages of the Cambridge Curriculum: Cambridge Primary, Cambridge Lower Secondary, Cambridge IGCSE, and Cambridge International AS & A Levels. This pathway provides a structured educational progression for students from age 5 to 19, with additional provision for younger children starting from age 2. The curriculum is designed to be flexible, allowing for adaptation to local contexts while maintaining standardized assessment objectives.

The school places a strong emphasis on student wellbeing and actively develops programs to assist students with their emotional and social experiences. It also provides dedicated support for English as a Second Language (ESL) learners.

Prospective parents must complete an admissions form and provide a current photograph, the student's most recent school report, and a copy of their passport or birth certificate. The Principal meets with all prospective families to discuss interests and answer questions. Applications for overseas arrivals are subject to specific seasonal windows, and the school encourages families to arrange a visit to the campus.

The school operates on a three-term academic year. Terms typically run from late August through December, January through April, and April through July, with scheduled mid-term breaks and closures for national and public holidays.

The campus features classrooms equipped with projectors to support digital learning. Students have access to a range of digital technologies, including laptops and tablets, to enhance their studies. The school maintains two locations in Galle to serve students across the age range.

Galle International College offers a variety of after-school activities, including sports such as football, karate, and yoga. Creative and academic clubs include dance, ballet, mindfulness and meditation, reading and storytime, and story writing. Some clubs are offered free of charge, while others require a termly fee.
