Glenwood High School

Glenwood High School is committed to building character, resilience, and integrity in a supportive, single-sex environment. It utilizes experiential and active learning methods designed to align with how boys learn best, emphasizing the importance of brotherhood, respect, and purpose. The school aims to nurture versatile, confident young men equipped to tackle global challenges.

The school offers a mainstream curriculum covering subjects such as Accounting, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Information Technology, Visual Arts, and Dramatic Arts. Additionally, the Glenwood Cambridge International School, established in 2016, offers the Cambridge Pathway, including IGCSE, O Level, and AS & A Level qualifications. The academic program is structured to promote 21st-century skills like critical thinking, communication, and collaboration.

Applications for admission must be submitted by September of the student's Grade 7 year. The process requires an administration fee and the submission of all relevant supporting documents before an application is considered. Prospective students may be invited for an interview, and all applicants are notified of their status by post.

The school year follows a term-based structure, with fees payable termly or via an 11-month debit order. Applications for the following academic year close in September of the preceding year, and scholarship examinations are typically held in early February.

The campus features world-class facilities, including the Warren Clewlow STEM Centre for IT and robotics, the Victor Daitz Science Centre, and a CAD lab for Engineering Graphics & Design. Sports infrastructure includes the Wayne Usher Gym, the War Memorial Swimming Bath, four squash courts, and access to an Astroturf through the Three Schools Trust. The school also houses the Mike Maher Media Centre, a drama studio, an art studio, and the Mvinjelwa Johannes Mhlongo School Hall.

Glenwood offers a wide range of sports, including rugby, cricket, hockey, basketball, soccer, squash, and swimming, supported by specialized directors and facilities. The school also promotes cultural involvement and various clubs and societies, encouraging students to develop their talents and passions outside of the classroom. Mass participation is encouraged alongside elite-level competition.
