Hillingdon Manor School is an independent specialist school for autistic pupils aged 11 to 19. It provides a personalised, autism-specific education across two sites in Middlesex.

Teaching approach

The school is guided by the core values of being 'Ready, Respectful and Safe,' which underpin its supportive learning environment. It also actively promotes British Values—including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect—to prepare pupils to be responsible citizens. The educational approach focuses on nurturing the unique strengths and abilities of every pupil to help them achieve their full potential.

Programmes

The school offers a curriculum for pupils from Year 7 through to Year 14, providing both formal and non-formal educational pathways. The curriculum is adapted to meet individual needs and includes a focus on life skills, public services, and the voluntary sector in England. Pupils must have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) documenting a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Conditions to be eligible for placement.

Learning support

The school maintains a clinical team consisting of professional therapists with specialist training and experience in a range of psychological therapies. This clinical support is integrated into the school's approach to ensure the individual needs of autistic pupils are met.

Admissions

Admissions are based on the availability of placements and the school's ability to meet a child's specific needs, including their level of functioning and age. The process typically begins with a Local Authority request for an assessment, followed by an Initial Contact Meeting where parents provide recent reports. If the school determines it can meet the child's needs, a Transition Plan is developed in consultation with parents and professionals, incorporating social stories to prepare the child for new routines. Prospective families are encouraged to visit during designated open mornings.

Calendar

The school publishes its term dates annually, with the 2026/2027 academic year calendar available for reference. The school year includes various events, such as charity initiatives and career-focused activities, integrated into the term schedule.

About the campus

Hillingdon Manor School operates across two vibrant sites: The Manor on Harlington Road in Hillingdon and The Courtyard on Church Road in Hayes. These locations provide the environment for the school's specialist educational and clinical provision.

Co-curriculars

Pupils have opportunities to engage in personal development and leadership activities, such as the Pupil Voice group, which allows students to propose school improvements and take on responsibilities like organizing staff events. The school also hosts charity events, such as those supporting Hillingdon Autistic Care & Support (HACS), and provides career-related newsletters and road safety education. These activities are designed to foster life skills, responsibility, and confidence.
