The academic programme features immersive language instruction, with French and English introduced from Grade 5. The school aims to prepare students for the German "Allgemeine Hochschulreife" (Abitur). Furthermore, it offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme for students aged 16 to 19, which is designed to prepare them for international academic careers and future life paths.

The school accepts applications for Grade 5 between the start of the school year and November 30th of the preceding year. The process includes a mandatory two-hour trial lesson on a Saturday for applicants, and the submission of Grade 3 report cards. Final admission decisions are communicated in writing by mid-February. For mid-year entry (Quereinstieg), interested parties are directed to contact the coordinators for the respective grade levels (5-6, 7-9, or 10-12).

The school operates as a full-day institution with hours from 7:00 to 17:00. An annual "Week of Open Lessons" (Woche des offenen Unterrichts) is held in the autumn, allowing prospective families to visit the school and observe classes. Additionally, a trial lesson day for applicants is scheduled annually, with the next session noted for January 9, 2027.

Located at Agnetenstraße 14 in Magdeburg-Neustadt, the campus features a cafeteria operated as a student company and a dedicated student workspace for homework and research. The school is equipped for digital learning, supporting a "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD) policy and cloud-based Office 365 formats. Access to the school is facilitated by local tram lines 1, 2, 9, and 10, as well as bus and S-Bahn connections.

The school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities (AGs) and workshops during lunch breaks and in the afternoon. These include club trips, holiday activities, and the operation of a student-run company in the cafeteria. The "ISG-Club" provides a structured environment for social and school-related needs throughout the day and during school holidays.
