Iqra Academy is the first full-time independent Islamic girls’ secondary school in Peterborough, serving students in years 7 through 11. It is a non-profit organisation funded by community fees and voluntary contributions.

Iqra Academy aims to provide a caring, encouraging, and mindful learning environment that promotes high expectations and student wellbeing. The school focuses on developing character, morals, and values, including honesty, truthfulness, individual worth, and respect for differences. Programmes
The school follows a five-year curriculum journey from Year 7 to Year 11, featuring a strong academic core alongside creative and performing arts, technology, computing, and physical education. Key Stage 3 subjects include English, Mathematics, Science, Arabic, Religious Education (Islamyat), PSHE, RSE, Citizenship, Urdu, History, Geography, Computer Science, and project work in food and textiles. In Year 9, students select their GCSE options, and the curriculum culminates in GCSEs and vocational qualifications in Year 11. The daily schedule includes structured lessons, tutorial time, prayer, and enrichment activities, with a dedicated Madrasah programme operating in the late afternoon.

Admissions
Iqra Academy is a private, fee-paying institution for female students in years 7–11. Applications are submitted via an official form, and prospective Year 7 students must complete a transfer test. In the event of over-subscription, priority is given to students with documented professional recommendations, siblings already attending the academy, and those living in closest proximity to the school. The annual fee for the 2024-2025 academic year is £4,200, payable annually, in advance, or via monthly standing order.
Calendar
The academic year is divided into three terms: Autumn, Spring, and Summer. The 2025-2026 calendar includes an Autumn term from September to December, a Spring term from January to March, and a Summer term from May to July. About the campus
Located in North Bretton, Peterborough, the academy campus provides a structured learning environment. Dr. Michael Wright has chaired the School Leadership team at Iqra Academy since 2016. He holds a PhD in Law, a Master’s Degree in Leadership, and has held senior roles in education, including serving as Executive Director of Education for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
- Nasiba ZaibDeputy Head
Nasiba Zaib has been an instrumental figure at Iqra Academy since its inception and currently serves as Deputy Head teacher. She holds a BSc in Accounting and Finance, a PGCE in Mathematics, and a National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership, and is recognized as a Senior Leader in Education for Mathematics.
