El Montgó International Waldorf School

The school follows Waldorf pedagogy based on the anthroposophical foundation of Rudolf Steiner, viewing education as a development toward individual freedom. It prioritizes a healthy, sustainable, and respectful environment that fosters reverence for the natural world, ethical responsibility, and social conscience. The school emphasizes a bilingual and multicultural approach, integrating English and Spanish throughout the learning experience.

The school offers pre-primary education for children aged three to six in mixed-age groups, focusing on natural development through rhythm, play, and repetition. The primary stage utilizes two-hour "main lessons" spanning three to four weeks, where students create their own subject books covering topics from botany to local geography. The curriculum integrates linguistic and mathematical arts with scientific observations, illustrations, and hand-drawn maps.

The school aims to develop lifelong learners who possess the ability to think clearly, feel compassionately, and act purposefully. Graduates are intended to be free, responsible, conscious, creative, and independent thinkers who are prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century. The curriculum is designed to be equivalent in content to the official system, ensuring students are well-prepared academically.

The school is authorized by the Conselleria d’Educació de la Generalitat Valenciana. It emphasizes a respectful, individual approach to each child, focusing on their specific evolutionary stage rather than external social expectations. The school also maintains a focus on student wellbeing through a dedicated coordinator.

The admission process requires a guided tour of the school followed by two interviews: one for the family to learn about the Waldorf pedagogy and a second with the student’s tutor to address pedagogical and practical matters. Final decisions are made by an Admissions Committee comprising the pedagogical director, director of studies, the student's tutor, and the administrative body. Admission is contingent upon the school and family sharing a mutual understanding and alignment with Waldorf values.

The school operates on an 11-month schedule, with fees collected in 11 monthly installments from September to July.

Located on a 2700 m2 plot, the school occupies a 350 m2 single-story building. The campus includes six primary classrooms (30 m2 each), one infant classroom (50 m2), a courtyard, a garden, and designated gaming zones. The environment is designed to be natural and includes a toy store and a vegetable garden.

The daily curriculum is enriched by arts, manual work, music, and theater. Physical education includes specialized activities such as circus arts, and the school organizes excursions for students. Additionally, a summer school program is available.
