Global Prodigy Academy (GPA) is an international middle and high school located on the campus of Jeonju University in South Korea. Accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), it provides a rigorous American-style curriculum taught in English.

Programmes

GPA offers a project-based American curriculum for students in grades 7–12, with core subjects including English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. The academic program includes an English Literacy track to build critical thinking and communication skills, as well as specialized instruction in Arts, Music, and Physical Education. Students also have access to AP courses and university-linked research and internship opportunities.

Outcomes

GPA reports that 98% of its students transition to universities, with 91% attending international institutions. Graduates have been accepted to prestigious universities worldwide, including Emory University, USC, Northeastern University, Penn State University, Ohio State University, and the University of British Columbia. The school provides university-level internships and research opportunities, such as the JJU–GPA Internship Program, to prepare students for higher education.

Admissions

The admissions process for Grades 7–12 begins with an online application and a non-refundable application fee. Applicants must complete an entrance assessment, which includes the WIDA MODEL Test to evaluate English proficiency, as well as an evaluation of academic readiness and classroom interaction skills. While in-country applicants are expected to test on campus, overseas applicants may arrange for online testing. Final admission decisions are made following a holistic review of all submitted documents and assessment results.

Calendar

The school operates on a semester-based system, with tuition payments due one week prior to the start of each semester. The academic year includes various school-wide events, such as Sports Day and seasonal celebrations, alongside regular academic programming.

About the campus

Located on the Jeonju University campus, the school utilizes three primary buildings: Starhome, which houses classrooms for Mathematics, Social Studies, Music, and Technology, as well as the counselor’s office and student dormitory; the International Education Hall, which hosts English, Literacy, Chinese, Spanish, and Health/PE classes; and Starvill, the science building, which contains labs and art studios. The campus facilities are designed to support project-based learning, experimentation, and creative expression.

Co-curriculars

GPA offers over 15 student-led clubs, including a Debate Club and a Math Club, which participate in competitions like the Purple Comet Math Competition. The school is a member of the South Korean Activities Conference (SKAC), through which students compete in sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, and badminton. Additionally, students engage in Model United Nations (MUN), drama productions, and community service initiatives.
