Jesus and Mary School

Founded in 1965 and run by the Sisters of Jesus & Mary, the school is a Catholic institution that emphasizes a holistic education rooted in faith, prayer, forgiveness, simplicity, respect, dignity of work, order, unity, and justice. It aims to form responsible citizens who are open to dialogue and committed to the values of the Gospel, while fostering both academic excellence and character development.

The school is divided into five divisions: Preschool, Elementary I (ages 6-8), Elementary II (ages 9-12), Intermediate, and Secondary. The academic programme follows the Lebanese curriculum, leading to the official Brevet and Baccalaureate exams, while the Secondary division also offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme for students in their final two years.

Students follow the Lebanese curriculum and sit for the official Lebanese Brevet and Baccalaureate examinations in Grades 9 and 12. Additionally, the school offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme for students in their final two years of secondary school, who then sit for external IB assessments.

The school explicitly states that it does not offer services for children with special educational needs. Guidance and counseling professionals are involved in the admissions interview process for new students.

The school welcomes applications for boys and girls regardless of ethnicity or religious background, provided parents commit to school policies and Catholic teachings. The admissions process involves an application form, an interview with the division principal and counseling staff, and, for grades 4 and above, entrance examinations in subjects including Arabic, English, French, and Mathematics. Admission is not granted on a first-come, first-served basis, and children of staff and alumni are not automatically admitted.

The school operates on a standard academic year, with registration and entrance exams typically occurring in the summer months of July and September. The school website maintains a dedicated calendar section for parents to track events and academic milestones.

The campus in Rabweh is organized into specific buildings for each division: the Jesus Infant of Prague Building (Preschool), Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Building (Elementary I), Saint Mary Building (Elementary II), Saint Charbel Building (Intermediate), and Saint Gianna Beretta Molla Building (Secondary). Additional facilities include the Saint Claudine Building for administration, two chapels (St. Rafqa and St. Claudine), a library, laboratories, computer centers, an auditorium, the Ruby theater, and various playgrounds.

Students participate in a variety of activities, including scouting, sports teams (such as basketball and futsal), and leadership programs like the Harvard Model Congress Europe. The school also hosts events such as book fairs, sports days, and religious celebrations, and encourages student involvement in community and faith-based groups.
