The school's purpose is to inspire learning to build a better world, guided by principles that emphasize relationships, challenge, process, ownership, engagement, and relevance. It utilizes a "Portrait of a Learner" to develop students who are self-aware, creative thinkers, effective communicators, compassionate collaborators, and courageous explorers. The educational approach is inquiry-based and concept-driven, focusing on the development of both academic and dispositional competencies.

The school offers a curriculum grounded in North American standards, including Common Core for Mathematics and English Language Arts, and Next Generation Science Standards. It is an IB World School offering the Diploma Programme (DP) and is in the process of becoming a full IB Continuum School with the launch of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) in 2025–26. The academic program is structured around four pillars: Academics, Athletics, Service Learning, and the Arts.

Approximately 96% of graduates continue to 3- or 4-year institutions of higher learning. The school has offered the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) for over 30 years, with an average IB total score of 36. Graduates have gone on to attend universities globally, pursuing fields such as international affairs, law, medicine, and political science.

The school utilizes a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework to provide personalized learning and intervention. Support services include English Language Learner (ELL) programs, which create individual language profiles, and services for students with learning differences, facilitated through Individualized Learning Plans (ILP). A Child Study Team of educators and specialists meets regularly to design and implement strategic interventions for students.

The school welcomes applications across all grade levels. The admissions process considers the individual student's ability to succeed, their social-emotional well-being, and the school's capacity to provide necessary support. A review panel evaluates each application, with final decisions made by the school director. High school applicants are expected to meet graduation requirements without modification, though accommodations may be provided within the Student Support Services framework.

The school provides a one-page student attendance calendar for the 2026-2027 academic year.

The Johannesburg campus is situated on a 260-acre site that includes academic wings, a library, a cafeteria, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, and a Fine Arts Center. The campus also features boarding houses with private en-suite rooms, each equipped with a dedicated study area. The Pretoria campus serves students from Pre-K to Grade 8, while the Johannesburg campus serves students from Pre-K3 to Grade 12.

The school offers 142 school-wide sports and co-curricular activities per season, including varsity sports, theater, and service learning projects. Students participate in 12 annual ISSEA tournaments and events. Service learning is a core pillar of the school, with students engaging in various community partnerships and leadership roles.
