Linz International School Auhof (LISA)

The school promotes a cosmopolitan outlook, valuing international orientation, tolerance, and respect. It aims to foster inquisitive, educated, and empathic young people who contribute to a better world. The community is inclusive, with students from diverse backgrounds speaking over 30 different languages, and the school emphasizes the importance of personal growth alongside academic achievement.

LISA offers a general education curriculum with English immersion, where Grades 5 and 6 are taught in both English and German. The academic pathway culminates in the final two years with the IB Diploma Programme, which includes subjects such as Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Experimental Sciences, Mathematics, and The Arts. Drama is offered as a subject starting in Grade 5.

Most students complete both the Austrian AHS Matura and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, providing pathways to universities and universities of applied sciences. The IB Diploma Programme is a two-year course of study in the final years, requiring the completion of six subjects, an Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and the CAS programme. International students who do not pursue the Matura may complete the IB Diploma through the LISA Academy programme.

Students with a mother tongue other than German receive German language instruction tailored to their proficiency level. The school also provides a mother-tongue language programme for students who do not have German or English as their first academic language. Support is integrated into the school culture to guide students through their personal development.

The school manages applications for Grade 5 through Grade 11. Applications for Grade 5 from Austrian primary schools or PYP ABIS are free of charge, while applications from abroad and for higher grades are processed via the OpenApply system and incur a non-refundable service fee. Membership contributions are required for all students, with specific fee structures for the LISA Academy programme for international students in the final two years.

The campus features a library with over 15,000 books in English, German, and French, alongside research computers. Practical learning is supported by biology, chemistry, and physics laboratories, as well as three computer rooms. Performance spaces include a dedicated drama room and an outdoor amphitheater known as the 'Theatron' located in the school garden.

LISA offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including drama, choir, music, and ensemble groups. Students are required to participate in the Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) programme, which involves self-directed projects in artistic, athletic, and community service areas. Additionally, the school hosts school events and produces media such as the Lisa4U magazine and a radio podcast.
