M-PESA Foundation Academy

The school is a leadership development institution that aims to nurture transformational leaders who strive for excellence and success for themselves, their communities, and the world. Its core values, known as CLAIRE, stand for Curiosity, Leadership, Accountability, Integrity, Responsible Citizenship, and Excellence.

The academy offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students in years 3, 4, and 5, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) for students aged 16–19. The IBDP curriculum includes six subject groups, the Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, and the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) core. The MYP provides a broad, conceptual framework covering languages, humanities, sciences, mathematics, physical education, design, and the arts.

The academy maintains an Access and Inclusion programme designed to remove barriers to learning. It provides thoughtful accommodations for teaching, learning, and assessment to ensure all students can participate fully in academic activities.

The academy offers a three-year residential programme for students aged 14 to 16 who are in their final year of junior secondary education. Selection is based on academic performance, leadership potential, financial need, and commitment to community service. Applicants must submit official forms along with academic transcripts, birth certificates, and co-curricular records; admission is independent of the national placement system.

The academic year is divided into three terms. The school operates on a structured schedule that includes specific dates for term openings, mid-term breaks, and end-of-term assessments, with detailed calendars communicated to the community annually.

The 88-acre campus is located 45 minutes outside of Nairobi and features student residences, classrooms, and laboratories. Key facilities include a state-of-the-art resource centre, an 800-seat auditorium, and various sports grounds set within natural bush and coffee plantations.

The school provides a wide range of co-curricular activities, including sports such as football, basketball, netball, volleyball, lawn tennis, badminton, and karate. Students also participate in clubs like the Science & Engineering Club, Model United Nations, and Rotary, alongside initiatives focused on environmental conservation, leadership development, and the arts.
