Munro Academy

Munro Academy is a Christ-centered, independent university-preparatory school that integrates a Christian worldview into its educational community. Its core values emphasize holistic growth—academic, social, physical, and spiritual—while fostering curiosity, community, and intercultural understanding. The school aims to equip students to impact their local and global contexts, operating under the motto, "Known. Valued. Inspired."

The academic program follows the Nova Scotia Department of Education outcomes, with elementary students studying subjects including Bible, math, science, language arts, French, history, geography, fine arts, drama, and physical education. The middle (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12) divisions offer a university-preparatory curriculum that includes international global studies exposure. The school also provides a full-year international student program featuring English immersion and ESL support, as well as summer ESL camps.

The school provides individually tailored English as a Second Language (ESL) support for international middle and high school students. Additionally, the school offers a needs-based bursary program for families requiring financial assistance, which is reviewed annually by the school board.

Munro Academy accepts student applications throughout the school year, with placement dependent on current class enrollment. The admission process requires the submission of an application form, an interview with the principal for both the applicant and their guardians, and a non-refundable registration fee upon approval. The school welcomes students of any faith background or none, though it notes a limited capacity to accommodate certain exceptionalities, with each case reviewed individually.

The school operates across two campuses located approximately 12 minutes apart in Nova Scotia. The Balls Creek campus houses the elementary school (pre-primary to grade 5), while the Northside campus in Sydney Mines serves the middle school, high school, and the Early Learning Centre. The Northside campus also provides licensed daycare services for infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
