Musaeus College

Founded in 1891, the school is a non-profit institution dedicated to the education of Sinhala Buddhist women in Sri Lanka. It aims to provide a balanced, all-round education that develops a total and wholesome personality, while fostering Buddhist traditions, discipline, and a sense of social responsibility.

The school provides a curriculum aligned with national education policies, with specialized instruction in higher grades for university preparation and professional pathways. It also offers a British Curriculum stream. The academic structure is supported by sectional heads, grade coordinators, and subject coordinators to manage the diverse needs of its student body.

The school maintains a strong academic tradition with high performance in the G.C.E. Advanced Level examinations. Students consistently qualify for university entrance across various streams, including Physical Science, Bio Science, Commerce, and Arts, with many achieving top island and district rankings.

The school utilizes a Learning Management System (LMS) to facilitate remote learning and student engagement. This platform allows teachers to share study packs and weekly work schedules, supported by a team of master teachers who assist in the system's implementation.

Applications for Lower Nursery, Upper Nursery, and Grade One are submitted online. The process includes an application fee, and successful applicants are notified via email or registered post. A non-refundable School Development Fund payment is required upon admission.

The 4.5-acre campus in Cinnamon Gardens features two libraries, five fully-equipped science laboratories for Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Zoology, and Biology, and air-conditioned computer centres. Additional facilities include a Home Science Department, a playground, and dedicated courts for tennis and badminton. A new building complex is currently under development to house a swimming pool, gymnasium, and sports complex.

The school offers a wide range of clubs and societies, including the Gavel Club, ICT Club, Media Unit, Photography Club, and various science and invention societies. Students also participate in arts, drama, singing, and dancing, as well as Model United Nations (MCMUN) and various science exhibitions. Sports activities include hockey, netball, tennis, and badminton.
