The school maintains a Christian environment and places a strong emphasis on developing the skills of its Ethiopian teaching staff to competently deliver an international curriculum.

RICE is an accredited Cambridge International School offering the Cambridge curriculum from Year 1 to Year 13. The academic programme includes Cambridge Primary, Lower Secondary, Upper Secondary (IGCSE), and Advanced (AS/A Level) stages, with subjects such as Global English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, and Computer Science. Additionally, the school incorporates the Ethiopian National Curriculum, teaching Amharic in Years 1–11 and Citizenship in Years 8–9.

Students work toward internationally recognized qualifications, including Cambridge IGCSEs and Cambridge International A Levels. The school also facilitates student registration for Ethiopian national exams at Grade 6, 8, and 12. Graduates are prepared for success in a global context through a curriculum that emphasizes deep subject knowledge and higher-order thinking skills.

The school offers Saturday revision classes for students preparing for Ethiopian national exams at Grade 6, 8, and 12, available for an additional fee. The curriculum is designed to be flexible and student-centered, with class sizes limited to a maximum of 24 students to maintain educational quality.

The admissions process begins each January with online registration. The school does not operate on a first-come-first-served basis; priority is given to siblings of current students and families who have registered for three or more consecutive years. Applicants for Year 1 must be aged 5 by the start of the school year, while Year 2 applicants must be aged 6. The process includes entrance assessments in English, Mathematics, and other subjects, followed by an interview with both students and parents.

The school year typically begins with registration in January. Assessments for new students generally take place in April and May, with final placement decisions for Years 2–13 usually determined by late May. Students are normally admitted at the beginning of the school year.

The school operates across two campuses in Addis Ababa. The Meskel Flower Campus serves students in Year 1 through Year 6, while the Agona Campus caters to students from Year 7 through Year 13. The Agona Campus features modern laboratories for science education, and both campuses are equipped with standard football courts and resources to support research and reading.

The school hosts a yearly Science Fair to encourage student engagement and innovation. Students also participate in various community activities designed to foster character and community values. Standard football courts are available on both campuses for student use.
