Rejsby Europaeiske Efterskole

Founded in 1994, the school is built upon a European focus, aiming to educate young people to navigate a globalized world. It emphasizes the importance of understanding cultural differences and developing strong social skills. The school is non-political and maintains high academic expectations, requiring student engagement, participation, and adherence to deadlines.

The school offers 8th, 9th, and 10th-grade levels, including a "Prøvefri" (exam-free) 10th grade and an International 10th grade taught in English. The curriculum includes instruction in five foreign languages and a strong emphasis on social studies, often relating to current global events. Students participate in three mandatory European trips and various exchange programs throughout the year.

The school prepares students academically, personally, and socially for their future education and careers. Graduates gain a global perspective through international exchanges and European travel, and they have the opportunity to earn certifications such as Cambridge, Goethe, and DELF exams. Students also develop skills in debate and civic engagement through participation in events like the Youth EU Summit at Christiansborg.

The school maintains a high academic standard and emphasizes project-based learning, including collaborations with the Klimazirkus to integrate physical activity into the curriculum. Teachers maintain a close, personal relationship with students, providing support both during scheduled lessons and in study hours. A local support pool is available to assist families facing financial difficulties, such as unemployment or illness, to ensure students can complete their education.

Prospective students and their families are required to visit the school for a personal tour and conversation before enrollment. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and if a year group is full, applicants are placed on a waiting list. A non-refundable enrollment fee of 1,550 DKK is required to confirm a place, followed by a 2,000 DKK deposit due in November prior to the school year.

The school year typically begins in August and concludes with graduation in late June. The academic calendar includes an autumn break in week 42, a winter break in week 7, and a Christmas holiday period. Throughout the year, students participate in three scheduled European trips, as well as specific events such as the "Gammel Elevdag," "Julecup," and "Ungemødet i Rejsby."

The campus is located in the scenic Wadden Sea area and features modern, renovated buildings including a sports hall, fitness room, and a multi-purpose field with artificial grass. Indoor facilities include a klatrevæg (climbing wall), eSport room, music room, podcast and audio studio, cinema, and a lecture hall. The school also provides bright, updated classrooms equipped with smartboards.

Students can choose from over 25 elective subjects, including sports, creative arts, and music. The school offers seven ambitious profile subjects: international politics, elite English, media, science and nature, Spanish, psychology, and police and society. Additionally, students have access to facilities for eSport, frisbee golf, and various ball games, and they may participate in the school magazine, Rejsby Europost.
