Teaching approach

The school is guided by five pillars: Pastoral Care, Academia, Sport, Extra-Curricular, and Spirit of Place. It aims to develop 'grounded, rounded, and unbounded' individuals who are critical thinkers, socially conscious, and internationally minded. The school emphasizes a 'sense of balance,' ensuring pupils can pursue academic excellence alongside passions for music, drama, and sport within a supportive, co-educational community.

Programmes

The academic programme is broad and balanced, leading to GCSEs and A Levels. B Block (pre-GCSE) pupils study core subjects including three sciences, languages, and creative studies. O Block/GCSE pupils take a combination of core subjects—English, Maths, Sciences, and a Modern Foreign Language—plus three optional subjects. The Sixth Form offers a wide range of A Level subjects, including Economics, Psychology, Politics, and Further Mathematics, supplemented by the 'Future Leaders' programme.

Outcomes

Repton School consistently achieves high academic results. In 2025, 56% of GCSE grades were in the 7-9 range, and 80% of A Level grades were A*-B. A significant number of pupils secure places at prestigious Russell Group universities, with recent successes in medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, and Oxbridge applications.
