Rift Valley Academy

Rift Valley Academy is a Christian boarding school that seeks to educate and disciple students toward their potential in Christ. Its mission is to partner with families to cultivate a community where students are challenged academically, nurtured spiritually, and supported personally. The school emphasizes the development of God-given abilities, the application of biblical truth, and the promotion of healthy, responsible living within a diverse community.

The school offers an American-based curriculum for elementary, junior high, and high school students, with additional support for British IGCSE qualifications. The high school program includes core subjects such as English, social studies, math, science, Bible, and foreign languages, alongside Advanced Placement courses in subjects like Biology, Chemistry, Calculus, and Statistics. Students also engage in life skills, communication and information technology, and physical education.

Graduates are equipped for further education, with alumni attending institutions such as Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Yale, and the US Air Force Academy. The school aims for graduates to possess a clear understanding of Christian faith, demonstrate critical thinking and organizational skills, and maintain spiritual, physical, and emotional health. The curriculum is designed to prepare students to transition successfully to life beyond the school.

The school provides student services to meet the daily and long-term needs of boarding students, including counseling and health support. It also maintains a focus on student wellness and child safety.

The school prioritizes children of Africa Inland Mission members, with other mission organization families considered after April 1st. If space permits, Kenyan nationals and expatriate applicants may be invited for interviews and testing in mid-June. Applicants must provide standardized test results from the last two years, and non-native English speakers may require proficiency testing. Families must reside in Africa to be eligible for admission.

The school operates on a year-round, single-track academic schedule running from August to July. The year is divided into three terms, each approximately 12 weeks long, followed by a one-month holiday break.

Located on 90 acres at an elevation of over 7,000 feet, the campus features nineteen student dormitories, staff housing, and an administrative building. Academic and recreational facilities include a gymnasium, a music building, a drama hall, a chapel, a cafeteria, and elementary recreational areas. The campus also provides dedicated facilities for student health, counseling, and laundry services.

Students participate in a variety of visual and performing arts, including band and choir, which require auditions for new high school students. The school also offers athletics, with facilities including two sports fields, tennis courts, and basketball courts. Spiritual development and outreach are central components of the student experience.
