Aquinas College

Guided by the motto 'Illuminare et Ardere' (To light up and be on fire), the school is committed to Catholic values including spirituality, belonging, perseverance, compassion, stewardship, and justice. It aims to foster a dynamic, innovative learning community that promotes quality education, global citizenship, and an awareness of God, while encouraging students to reach their personal best.

The curriculum includes core subjects such as Religion, English, Humanities, Science, Mathematics, and LOTE (Chinese and French). Senior students may pursue the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM), or the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC). Vocational Education and Training (VET) certificates are also available in areas such as building and construction, cookery, hospitality, and sport and recreation.

The college provides Educational Support Services (ESS) for students with disabilities, offering individualized adjustments and regular reviews. A partnership with St Mary’s College for the Deaf allows deaf and hard-of-hearing students to access an inclusive learning environment with onsite specialist support. Additionally, the Aquinas Gifted Learning Enhancement (AGiLE) program supports students who demonstrate giftedness through curriculum acceleration and enrichment activities.

Enrolment applications for Year 7 open during a child's Grade 5 year, with a priority given to students from ten designated Catholic parishes. The college does not maintain a waiting list for Year 7 entry, and offers are mailed to families in October. For entry into Years 8–12, families must submit an 'Expression of Interest' form, with placement subject to availability and the discretion of the Principal.

The 2026 academic year runs from 29 January to 4 December. The year is divided into four terms, with breaks in April, June/July, and September/October. Public holidays, including Labour Day and the King's Birthday, are observed throughout the year.

Located on 30 acres, the campus features native vegetation and sports areas. Current facilities include the Aquinas Resource Centre (ARC), a dedicated cafe (Cafe N9ne), and a Health Centre staffed by qualified nurses. A long-term masterplan is underway to introduce a new performing arts building, a gymnasium, a technology precinct, and a Wominjeka welcoming garden, with Stage 1 including a new Year 9 building and a wellness centre.

The school offers a diverse range of activities, including musicals, plays, choirs, bands, and public speaking. Students participate in inter-school sports through the Eastern Independent Schools Melbourne (EISM), with disciplines such as cricket, hockey, basketball, football, soccer, softball, and tennis. Additionally, the college facilitates cultural tours to destinations including France, China, Borneo, New Caledonia, and Central Australia.
