Riyadh Japanese School

The school aims to foster well-rounded, emotionally rich students who are motivated to learn, compassionate, and resilient. It emphasizes the development of students who can act as a bridge between Japan and Saudi Arabia, cultivating a broad perspective to connect with friends around the world.

The school follows the Japanese Ministry of Education's Course of Study, with a strong emphasis on mother-tongue proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The curriculum includes core subjects such as Japanese, mathematics, science, social studies, and physical education, supplemented by English and Arabic language instruction. Small class sizes allow for individualized attention, and the school also offers a trial enrollment program for primary-aged children.

The school maintains an 'Oasis' class, which serves as a special support classroom. This provision is staffed by a dedicated teacher to provide tailored instruction and support for students with specific learning needs.

The school accepts applications for enrollment and transfer throughout the year, provided the applicant intends to enroll. Required documentation includes an application form, family records, passport and iqama copies, and, for transfer students, academic records such as a certificate of enrollment and health records. Prospective families are advised to coordinate with the Japan Overseas Educational Services (JOES) regarding textbooks prior to departure from Japan.

The academic year follows a standard structure with three terms. Key annual events include exchange and field learning activities, swimming lessons, a school stay, a school trip, an annual sports day held in collaboration with the Japanese Association, and the Rakam Festival (learning exhibition) in the third term.

Located within the Kingdom Compound, the school occupies a single-story building featuring a library, music room, science lab, and a combined art and home economics room. Students have access to extensive compound facilities, including a gymnasium with soccer and basketball goals, tennis courts, and three swimming pools. The school grounds also include a garden area with sandboxes and playground equipment.

Students participate in a variety of activities including daily 'Enjoy English' sessions, student council meetings, and reading programs supported by a library of over 5,800 books. Recreational opportunities within the compound include soccer, ball games, table tennis, and use of playground equipment like swings and seesaws. The school also organizes exchange learning visits to international schools and hosts guest speakers.
