Lower Austrian International School

The school is dedicated to providing a high-quality academic education that is compatible with the intensive demands of competitive sports. It fosters a multicultural community where students can study, train, and live in an integrated environment, aiming to support the holistic development of young athletes.

The school offers three main academic pathways: a five-year upper secondary grammar school (BORGL) leading to the Matura; a four-year commercial school (BHASL) with a focus on sports and event management; and the Lower Austrian International School (LAIS), an IB World School offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. LAIS prepares students for higher education, with pathways leading to either the Austrian Matura or the IB Diploma.

The school provides comprehensive support through Individual Learning Accompaniment (ILB) and student and educational counseling (SBB). ILB offers goal-oriented, resource-focused support for students facing academic challenges, while SBB assists with career planning and the integration of competitive sports with educational goals.

Admission to the school's various programmes is managed exclusively through the Lower Austrian Sport Performance Centre (NÖ Sport-Leistungs-Zentrum St. Pölten) and the respective sports federations. Each school form maintains its own specific entry requirements for talented young athletes selected by these governing bodies.

The school operates on a structured academic calendar that includes designated school-autonomous days and holiday periods, such as autumn breaks. Detailed scheduling, including daily timetables and lesson plans, is managed through the WebUntis platform.

The campus is uniquely integrated, featuring school buildings, boarding facilities, and sports venues all in one location. On-site amenities include a school library, a medical office staffed by a school doctor, and specialized spaces for academic and administrative functions.

Students participate in a variety of activities that complement their academic and athletic training, such as workshops at the local university campus radio station. The school also organizes educational excursions, including interactive exhibitions focused on social awareness and inclusivity, such as tours exploring the world of deaf individuals.
