Instruction is bilingual, supporting both academic and cultural understanding.

The school holds an 'A' grade government accreditation for its Primary, Secondary, and Advanced levels. As an inclusive school, Sekolah Nusa Alam considers the enrolment of children with special needs on a case-by-case basis. While not a specialist school, it utilizes small class sizes and a personalized teaching approach to accommodate individual needs. Families are responsible for the costs of additional support, such as a 'shadow teacher', when required.

Sekolah Nusa Alam accepts students aged 3–18 from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. The enrolment process involves an initial enquiry, submission of required documentation (including previous school reports and medical/psychological records), and a literacy and numeracy assessment. The school offers unconditional, conditional, or lower placement based on assessment results, and provides temporary enrolments of up to six months.

The school follows a Northern Hemisphere academic calendar, with classes typically beginning in July. The academic year is divided into four terms, interspersed with mid-term breaks and public holidays. The school year concludes in June, with final assessments and end-of-year assemblies held in the final term.

The Mataram campus features air-conditioned classrooms with modular seating and digital tools, a library, and specialized science and ICT laboratories. Creative and life-skills spaces include an art room and a dining room used for cooking clubs. Outdoor facilities comprise age-specific playgrounds, a large grass field, a basketball/volleyball court, and landscaped green spaces featuring traditional 'barugaq' pavilions.

Students participate in a wide range of creative, cultural, and outdoor learning opportunities, including themed weeks such as Literacy Week, STEM Week, and Mathematics Week. Extracurricular activities include sports (basketball, football, volleyball, swimming, and athletics), Model United Nations (IMUN), charity events, and performing arts. The school also hosts events like Sports Day, Kindness Week, and cultural celebrations such as Lunar New Year, Nyepi, and Kartini Day.
