Programmes

The school provides a continuous educational journey from Pre-School (ages 2+) through to Sixth Form (ages 16-19). The curriculum is broad, balanced, and stimulating, covering linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, human, social, physical, aesthetic, and creative areas. Pupils have flexibility in their choice of subjects at GCSE and A Level to focus on their individual strengths.

Outcomes

The school celebrates both academic progress and excellence, with a "no-ceilings" approach to studies. In 2025, 69% of GCSE grades were 9-7 (A-A equivalent), and over half of all Year 13 students achieved A-B grades. 96% of university applicants secured their first or second choice, with graduates moving on to diverse pathways including university, pilot school, and professional graduate schemes.

Admissions

About the campus

Silcoates is situated on a 60-acre campus on the outskirts of Wakefield. Outdoor facilities include a purpose-built hockey Astro pitch, a multi-use games area with four netball courts, and a cricket wicket with a sports pavilion. Indoor facilities feature a sports hall equipped for cricket, badminton, netball, tennis, basketball, and 5-a-side football, as well as an 18m swimming pool.

Co-curriculars

Learning extends beyond the classroom with a wide range of co-curricular opportunities designed to help pupils discover passions and develop life skills. Offerings include music, sport, drama, academic clubs, societies, and leadership roles. Pupils also participate in house competitions, educational visits, and lectures by outside speakers.

    Mr King was appointed as Headteacher in 2025, succeeding Mr Chris Wainman. He previously served as Senior Deputy Head at Birkdale School in Sheffield for five years, where he also held the position of Director of Studies for eight years.
