Skt. Josef's School

Skt. Josef’s International School is an inclusive institution that welcomes children regardless of their social, ethnic, religious, or educational background. It operates as a self-governing, independent association, with over 60% of its funding provided by Danish government grants. The school is committed to a vision of education that focuses on sustainability, environmental care, and the holistic development of its students.

The International Department follows the Cambridge International curriculum, with all instruction delivered in English, except for Danish and other foreign language subjects. The programme is structured into Primary (Year 1–6), Lower Secondary (Year 7–9), and IGCSE (Year 10–11). Students complete their education at age 16 after sitting for IGCSE examinations. Additionally, the school offers an SFO (After School Program) for students in Years 1–5.

The school emphasizes character education, happiness, and wellbeing as core components of its pedagogical approach. It also provides guidance services and maintains a focus on science talent development. ICT is integrated into the teaching curriculum across all year groups.

The school maintains a waiting-pool for its International Department, which requires a non-refundable registration fee of 500 DKK. Upon the availability of a space, families are invited to an enrolment meeting, where they are encouraged to bring the prospective student and recent school reports. Following a successful meeting, an offer of a place is extended, requiring confirmation and the payment of a two-month refundable deposit alongside school fees.

The school operates on a schedule that typically begins in mid-August and concludes in late June. The academic year includes an autumn break in October, a Christmas holiday, a winter holiday in February, an Easter break, and several public holidays such as the Ascension, Pentecost, and Constitution Day. The SFO (After School Program) operates on a similar holiday schedule with specific closures during major holiday periods.

The campus features a variety of learning and recreational spaces, including a large hall, a music room, a workshop, and a visual arts room. Recent developments include a newly opened playground and ongoing improvements to the schoolyard environment and green areas. The school also provides lockers for students and has dedicated premises for its SFO programme.
