St Brendan's School

St. Brendan’s School is a secular, bilingual educational community that promotes a constructivist approach centered on the child as an integral being. It is inspired by the values of courage, commitment, and perseverance, aiming to form 'Citizens of the World' who are respectful, self-aware, and sensitive to community needs. The school integrates the IB learner profile attributes to guide ethical formation and foster international-mindedness.

The school offers the complete IB continuum: the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for ages 2 to 11, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for ages 12 to 15, and both the Diploma Programme (DP) and the Career-related Programme (CP) for ages 16 to 18. The curriculum is bilingual and integrates the best elements of various international systems to foster critical thinking, research skills, and global awareness.

The school maintains a dedicated Psychopedagogical Department to support the holistic development and well-being of its students. This department works alongside the teaching staff to provide necessary guidance and support throughout the students' educational journey.

The school accepts applications throughout the year, with specific enrollment periods for the following academic year: May for siblings of current students and June–July for new families. The process involves completing an online interview request form, followed by an informational interview, and, if applicable, an academic evaluation or pedagogical assessment. Once the process is complete and a spot is reserved, the admission is confirmed.

The school year follows a standard academic cycle, with enrollment periods occurring in May for siblings and June–July for new families. The administration office operates Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with adjusted hours of 9:00 am to 4:00 pm during January.

The school operates across four distinct sites in Montevideo: 'Brendies' (Early Years) on Bulevar Artigas; the Punta Carretas Campus (Lower and Primary School) featuring four buildings, a library, art and music workshops, and a gymnasium; the Main Campus (Secondary and Upper Secondary) on Rivera 2314, which includes science laboratories, a theatre, and computer rooms; and the Sports Fields on Camino Strassener, which house extensive athletic facilities including a synthetic hockey field and multiple gymnasiums.

The school offers a range of sports and social activities through the Old Brendan’s Club, which complements the school's educational goals. Facilities include an indoor gymnasium, an outdoor gymnasium, an athletics track, football pitches, a synthetic hockey field, and rugby and handball pitches. Additionally, the school emphasizes Service Learning as a core component of its identity, encouraging students to engage in community service, fundraising, and volunteer work.
