St Patrick's Silverstream

Founded in 1931 by the Marist Fathers, the school is committed to forming the whole person in the image of Christ, grounded in Catholic values and the spirit of the Society of Mary. It aims to empower young men to become compassionate, just, and successful citizens by fostering independence, responsibility, and a sense of service. The school emphasizes the dignity of the human person and encourages students to pursue excellence in academic, religious, and extracurricular life.

The school offers a diverse curriculum for Years 9–13, accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). Students work towards NCEA qualifications through a mix of Achievement Standards and Unit Standards. The academic programme is supported by departments including English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, Technology, Visual Arts, Music, and Physical Education, alongside a dedicated Careers and Pathways department.

The school provides a learning support department led by a Head of Department. While the college does not have a dedicated unit for students with high-level special needs, families are encouraged to contact the Head of Learning Support prior to enrolment to discuss individual requirements and available provisions.

St Patrick's College Silverstream is a Catholic boys' secondary school for Years 9–13. Domestic enrolments are managed online, with preference given to baptised Catholic students in accordance with the New Zealand Catholic Bishops’ Conference criteria. The school also welcomes international students and offers a limited number of boarding places in Redwood House. Prospective families are encouraged to attend the annual Open Day or contact the school to arrange a visit.

The school operates on a four-term academic year. The calendar includes key events such as the Year 9 Orientation, Dedication Mass, various sporting tournaments, and NCEA examination periods for senior students. Term dates are published annually, with specific start and end dates provided for both domestic and international planning.

The campus features extensive grounds and specialized facilities, including the Blake Centre with state-of-the-art weights rooms and basketball courts. Boarding students reside in Redwood House, which provides common areas, kitchenettes, and recreational spaces such as pool and table tennis tables. Additional facilities include a college chapel for prayer and reflection, an outdoor swimming pool, music rehearsal spaces, and various sports fields.
