Stenhus Gymnasium

Stenhus Gymnasium emphasizes tolerance, mutual respect, and a positive tone among students and staff. The school fosters a motivating and inspiring environment where students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own education, participate in decision-making, and show respect for one another. The goal is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring individuals.

The school offers the 3-year STX (general upper secondary) and 2-year HF (profession-oriented) programmes, alongside the international Pre-IB and IB Diploma Programme. The IB curriculum includes various profiles such as Medicine, Engineering, Business, Psychology, Creative, and Language/Culture/Communication, all of which incorporate core subjects like Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). There is no tuition fee for the Pre-IB or IB programmes.

Graduates are prepared for advanced education with competencies in humanities, natural science, and social science. The IB Diploma Programme provides access to college-level courses in Denmark and internationally, with specific profiles preparing students for fields such as medicine, engineering, business, psychology, and global studies. The school aims to develop students into competent, democratic citizens capable of navigating a globalized world.

The school provides student guidance services and assigns personal IB tutors to visiting students. For elite athletes, the school acts as a Team Danmark partner, offering flexible scheduling, organized meetings with a dedicated Team Danmark coordinator, and the possibility of extending the duration of their education to balance academic and athletic commitments.

Prospective students can apply for the Pre-IB and IB Diploma programmes with a deadline of March 1st. The school hosts an annual Open House in January and offers specific visitor days, including Pre-IB Visitors’ Days for 9th and 10th graders and IB Taster Days for students currently in Pre-IB or equivalent international school years. International students living abroad may arrange individual visits between mid-September and mid-February.

The school year begins in August, with new students typically starting on August 10th. The school observes a summer holiday period, during which the administration is closed from early July until early August. A detailed vacation schedule is available for the academic year.

Located in Holbæk, the campus features recently renovated, modern, and bright architecture with open spaces for study. On-site housing, "Stenhus Gymnasium Housing," provides approximately 80 rooms for students, equipped with basic furniture such as beds, desks, and bookshelves. The campus includes laundry facilities, free Wi-Fi, and shared common areas with microwaves and fridges.

Students participate in a variety of after-school activities, including staging musicals, playing in bands, organizing music cafés, and engaging in art workshops. Sports offerings include soccer, badminton, basketball, and volleyball, alongside various tournaments. The school also hosts a Sports College for talented athletes in badminton, basketball, dance, and handball, and a Drama College in collaboration with Sjællands Teater.
