The Ark Christian School

The school ethos is rooted in Christian principles, including respect, equality, compassion, thankfulness, justice, and forgiveness. It follows a constructivist approach to learning, which emphasizes active, collaborative education where students engage in self-guided exploration, reflection, and evaluation. As a non-profit, charitable organization, the school prioritizes the well-being of the pupil over profit.

The school follows the British National Curriculum for students aged 2-18, spanning Early Years, Primary, and Secondary (Key Stages 3 & 4) through to Sixth Form. The curriculum is enriched by the study of the Spanish language. Core subjects include English Language and Literature, Mathematics, Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), History, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, ICT, and Tourism. Students work toward IGCSE and A-Level qualifications.

Students are prepared for IGCSE and A-Level examinations, which provide access to further training and university in the UK, Spain, and worldwide. Access to Spanish universities is facilitated through a process of accreditation of studies, allowing students to enter under equal conditions with those from Spanish schools.

The school employs a dedicated Primary and SEN (Special Educational Needs) Coordinator. Support is provided through ESL (English as a Second Language) and SEN teaching staff to assist students with individual learning requirements.

The admissions process begins with an initial contact to schedule a visit or virtual meeting. Prospective students undergo an assessment, which includes a review of previous school reports and potential placement tests, followed by two free trial days. Upon a successful assessment, families receive a written offer with a 5-10 day window to secure their child's place. The school welcomes new families throughout the year.

The school operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, with Primary hours from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and Secondary hours from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. A school calendar for the 2026/2027 academic year is available for download.

The campus is located in Las Lagunas de Mijas, Málaga. It includes classrooms for all age groups and facilities that support a range of subjects, including art and music. The school buildings are also used by the Ark Christian Church for Sunday worship.

The school hosts the ‘Instituto Canzion’ music school, which provides music lessons for students and directs the school choir. Students also participate in various assemblies, performances, and cultural celebrations, such as Andalucía Day and an Andalusian Breakfast. The school's location on the Costa del Sol facilitates outdoor activities and excursions.
