The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum across Key Stages 2, 3, and 4, with a strong emphasis on reading, literacy, and vocational learning. Core subjects include English Language and Literature, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Religious Education, PSHCE, Careers, Food Technology, Art & Design, Design Technology, Computing, and Outdoor Education. At Key Stage 4, students follow personalized pathways that include academic and vocational options, such as BTEC Food & Nutrition, alongside mandatory subjects like PE and Careers.

The school aims for students to leave with clear future plans, a commitment to lifelong learning, and the ability to maintain a healthy body and mind. It focuses on helping students achieve their best academic outcomes while developing the character and skills necessary to become contributing members of society. The curriculum is designed to re-engage students, raise their aspirations, and prepare them for careers in a rapidly changing world.

The school employs a trauma-informed approach and embeds the Zones of Regulation to help students manage their emotions and reduce anxiety. Support is provided through small working groups, one-to-one sessions, and group interventions led by a dedicated pastoral team, which includes a mental health counsellor and pastoral support officers. The school works collaboratively with families and multi-agency professionals to ensure individual needs are met.

The Axis Academy is a special educational needs school for students aged 4–18 who hold an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. To be admitted, the school must be named by a Local Authority within the child’s EHCP. Prospective parents are encouraged to contact the school or their Local Authority to initiate this process.

The school provides academic calendars for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years on its website. Parents may submit requests for holidays during term time by completing a formal Holiday Request Form.

The campus features specialist learning spaces including a science lab, art room, design technology workshop, and a food technology room. Physical and emotional well-being are supported through a music room, gym, multi-use games area, a sensory room for meditation and yoga, and dedicated calm rooms. The grounds include an outdoor classroom, an allotment, and a unique on-site farm that facilitates experiential learning and connection with nature.

Students participate in a range of activities designed to hone leadership skills and promote well-being, including the John Muir Awards and the Duke of Edinburgh Award (Bronze and Silver). The school also offers various sporting opportunities, and students have access to activities such as pool, table tennis, and board games in the Hub and Quad during break and lunch times.
