The Axis Academy is a thriving SEN Free School in Crewe, Cheshire East, established in 2020 to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. It provides a specialized, trauma-informed education for students aged 4–18 within the YES Trust.

The school employs a trauma-informed approach and embeds the Zones of Regulation to help students manage their emotions and reduce anxiety. Admissions
The Axis Academy is a special educational needs school for students aged 4–18 who hold an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. To be admitted, the school must be named by a Local Authority within the child’s EHCP. Prospective parents are encouraged to contact the school or their Local Authority to initiate this process.
Calendar
The school provides academic calendars for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years on its website. Parents may submit requests for holidays during term time by completing a formal Holiday Request Form.
Facilities
About the campus
The campus features specialist learning spaces including a science lab, art room, design technology workshop, and a food technology room. Physical and emotional well-being are supported through a music room, gym, multi-use games area, a sensory room for meditation and yoga, and dedicated calm rooms. The grounds include an outdoor classroom, an allotment, and a unique on-site farm that facilitates experiential learning and connection with nature.
Co-curriculars
Students participate in a range of activities designed to hone leadership skills and promote well-being, including the John Muir Awards and the Duke of Edinburgh Award (Bronze and Silver). The school also offers various sporting opportunities, and students have access to activities such as pool, table tennis, and board games in the Hub and Quad during break and lunch times.
