Founded in 1896, The British School in Punta Arenas is the southernmost IB World School in the world. It provides a comprehensive educational programme from Playgroup through to the final year of secondary school.

Programmes

The school follows the International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is offered from Playgroup to fifth grade, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) from sixth grade to first year of secondary school, and the Diploma Programme (DP) from second to fourth year of secondary school. The curriculum integrates these international standards with the requirements of the Chilean Ministry of Education, offering subjects such as Psychology, Business Management, Chemistry, and Sports Science in the Diploma Programme.

Outcomes

The school aims to form responsible, solidary, and globally-minded citizens prepared for the challenges of the modern world. Students are encouraged to develop the ten attributes of the IB learner profile, including being inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and reflective. About the campus

The school operates across multiple locations in Punta Arenas. The Junior School building (Avenida España 853) houses Infant and Junior levels, a music house, a drum room, and the Margaret Harper Building, which contains a cafeteria and multi-purpose hall. The Senior School building (Juez Waldo Seguel 454) serves Middle and Senior levels and includes a gymnasium and cafeteria. Additionally, the school utilizes sports fields on Avenida El Bosque and maintains the St. James Church for spiritual guidance and community activities.
