The Clariden School

The Clariden School is a secular, project-based learning community that emphasizes critical thinking, independence, and a love of learning. It fosters a safe, inclusive environment that honors student individuality and encourages them to advocate for themselves while maintaining a balance between academic achievement and personal development.

The academic programme spans Early Childhood (Cougar Prep for ages 3-5 and Kindergarten), Lower School (Grades 1-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8), and Upper School (Grades 9-12). The curriculum integrates project-based learning, STEAM, world languages, and physical education, culminating in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. Upper school students also engage in independent, self-directed study and a variety of electives.

The school emphasizes small class sizes—averaging 11 students—to provide individualized attention and meet the specific educational needs of each child. Teachers are described as caring and responsive, partnering with parents to support student growth.

The admissions process is thorough and designed to evaluate each applicant as a student, classmate, and citizen. Families must submit previous school records, standardized assessments, and teacher recommendations, followed by a student visit day and interviews for both parents and students. The school participates in the Texas School Choice program and accepts Education Freedom Accounts.

The school year typically begins in August, with events such as New Family Orientation and the first day of school occurring in early August. The school maintains an online calendar to track community events, faculty dates, and general school activities.

Located on a 23-acre campus in Southlake, Texas, the school features six separate buildings. These facilities include a gymnasium equipped with a theater stage, as well as access to the adjacent Bob Jones Park for outdoor activities.

Students participate in a variety of programs including Odyssey of the Mind, Drama Club, Robotics, Rocketry, and FIRST LEGO League. Athletics offerings include basketball, cross country, and volleyball. Additionally, the school hosts events such as Field Day, a Fall Festival, an annual gala, and all-school musical productions.
