West Broward Academy

The mission of West Broward Academy is to engage students and promote high achievement through a well-rounded education. The school utilizes a challenging, reform-based instructional approach focused on mathematics and science within a nurturing environment. It emphasizes cooperative learning, critical thinking, and character building to prepare students for future success.

The academic program includes an elementary and middle school curriculum aligned with Florida’s academic standards, with a strong emphasis on mathematics, science, and technology. The school offers the Cambridge Program, an internationally recognized, rigorous curriculum for students in grades K-12. Additionally, the school incorporates Project-Based Learning (PBL) and a Makerspace to foster inquiry, creativity, and real-world skill development.

West Broward Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving students from Kindergarten through 8th grade. The enrollment process involves an annual open enrollment period, followed by a lottery if the number of applicants exceeds available vacancies. Preference is given to siblings, children of employees or governing board members, and children of active-duty military families.

The school operates on a standard academic calendar, with the first day of school typically in mid-August. The school day runs from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with before and after-care services available from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Families can access the school calendar through the website or via RSS feeds.

The campus is located at 5281 Coconut Creek Parkway in Margate, Florida. Facilities include a Makerspace, which provides students with modern technology and materials for inquiry-based learning and constructionist projects. The school also offers food and nutritional services, including an a la carte program.
