William Carey Academy

Founded in 1996, the school aims to provide a model of international-standard education that prepares Bangladeshi students for study at world-class universities. While maintaining an English-medium environment, the school balances its American curriculum by celebrating Bangladeshi holidays, teaching the Bengali language, and observing local customs.

The school follows a traditional American curriculum, with all subjects taught in English except for Bengali and other foreign languages. The academic programme includes four years of mathematics (up to AP Calculus), four years of science (up to Physics), and elective offerings such as AP Psychology. Students must meet specific credit requirements in English, math, science, social studies, and languages to graduate, and all students are required to take the SAT.

Graduates earn a U.S. High School Diploma and have been admitted to a wide range of international universities, including institutions in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Asia. Recent graduates have achieved an average SAT score of 1230, with strong performance in both reading/writing and mathematics. Seniors are required to complete a comprehensive senior project involving research, a 3,000-word paper, and a formal presentation on a social issue in Bangladesh.

The school accepts applications for KG1 through Grade 11, with a deadline typically in early April for the following academic year. The admissions process includes the submission of a general form, birth certificate, previous school records, and a cover letter, followed by an entrance test and interview. A fee is required at the time of the entrance examination.

The school offers a variety of extra-curricular activities, including interscholastic and intramural sports such as basketball, soccer, and conditioning. Students may also participate in the annual high school play, yearbook, school newspaper, and student government.
