Over 1,000 students have graduated from the school over the past 40 years. Graduates earn an American High School Diploma, with the option to pursue the IB Diploma Programme, providing pathways to universities in the US, UK, and the region. The school is rated "Good with outstanding aspect" by Bahrain’s Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA).

The school admits students from Preschool through Grade 12 based on policies set by the school and the Bahraini Ministry of Education. The application process requires submission of academic transcripts, identification documents, and vaccination records, followed by entrance exams in English, Arabic (for native speakers), and Math, as well as an interview. Placement assessments vary by level, ranging from observational sessions for early childhood to standardized literacy and numeracy testing for older students.

The school operates on an academic year beginning in August, with payment installments typically due in August, January, and March. The school provides an online portal for parents to access the academic calendar and school activities.

The Sanad campus features modern, spacious buildings with technologically advanced classrooms equipped with interactive Smartboards and wireless internet. Specialized facilities include science, art, robotics, and music labs, two libraries, meeting and lecture halls, a cafeteria, and a modern theatre. Sports facilities include a gymnasium, an air-conditioned sports hall, a track and field area, a soccer field, and courts for tennis, basketball, and volleyball.

AHIS offers a variety of clubs and activities during and after school to foster social and cultural development. Notable programs include the Model United Nations (MUN), the Future Arab Leaders (FAL) conference, the Young Leaders Council (YLC), and the Junior Ambassadors Conference. Students also participate in sports teams, including football and handball, and various workshops such as photography.
