Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is a globally diverse, two-week academic summer enrichment program for outstanding high school students. It offers an interdisciplinary experience on the Yale University campus, serving students from over 150 countries and all 50 U.S. states.

Teaching approach

The program emphasizes an open, exploratory, and collaborative approach to learning that encourages students to set their own limits. By removing grades and course credit, it fosters a creative environment where students engage in discussions shaped by international perspectives. The curriculum is designed to expose participants to innovative topics and facilitate peer-to-peer interaction in various university contexts.

Programmes

The curriculum is divided into three academic tracks: Innovations in Science & Technology (IST), Politics of Law & Economics (PLE), and Solving Global Challenges (SGC). Learning contexts include lectures from Yale faculty and practitioners, small-group breakout discussions, 150+ unique seminars, hands-on symposiums, and collaborative capstone projects. Students also participate in themed special meals and college experience panels.

Outcomes

Students receive an electronic certificate of completion at the end of their session. The program emphasizes the development of communication skills, the ability to analyze issues from multiple perspectives, and the expansion of global worldviews.
