Bahr Academy is a registered charity and the first Muslim school and Darul Uloom in the North East of England. It provides an educational environment that integrates the National Curriculum with intensive Islamic studies.

Teaching approach

The school’s mission is to reconnect students with the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah while fostering academic excellence. Its core values—Beneficial, Ambitious, Humility, and Respect—guide the development of students' character, spirituality, and leadership skills. Programmes

The academic programme combines National Curriculum subjects with a daily Islamic studies curriculum divided into Aqaa’id (Beliefs), Fiqh (Jurisprudence), Seerah (History), and Aadaab (Etiquettes). At Key Stage 3, students study subjects including English, Mathematics, Science, History, ICT, Urdu, Arabic, Art, and Music. Key Stage 4 students work toward eight GCSEs, with subjects including English Language and Literature, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Urdu, History, and Citizenship. Additionally, the school offers a 7-year Alimiyyah Programme, which provides an intensive study of Hadith, Fiqh, Tafsir, and Arabic.

Outcomes

Bahr Academy aims to nurture students into responsible, active British citizens and future leaders who contribute positively to their communities. The school maintains high academic standards through performance management systems and regular reviews by the Senior Leadership Team. Recent Ofsted inspections have recognized the school for areas of good practice.
