The school follows an American curriculum based on California Common Core standards. The academic structure is divided into four stages: theme-based learning for nursery and kindergarten (ages 2-5), discovery-based learning for elementary school (ages 6-10), skills-based learning for middle school (ages 11-13), and mastery-based learning for high school (ages 14-17). The school is an authorized examination center for the SAT and the College Board's Advanced Placement (AP) program, currently offering fifteen AP courses.

NIVA alumni have pursued studies in fields such as medicine, business, computer science, engineering, and communications. Graduates have been accepted into top-tier universities globally, and the school reports an average of $150,000 in university scholarships offered to its alumni annually. Alumni are currently employed in diverse professional roles including doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, lawyers, and software developers.

The school provides an English Language Learner (ELL) program for students who do not speak English. This program is designed to build foundational language skills to prepare students for entry into the mainstream academic program. It is available to all students, including those transitioning from Thai schools or Chinese-speaking families.

The admissions process consists of four steps: submitting an application with required documents, completing an applicant assessment, paying school fees to secure a seat, and finalizing registration. Required documents include previous school records, identification for parents and students, and vaccine records for nursery through grade 5. Assessments for nursery and kindergarten involve an interview, while grades 1-12 include interviews and testing in math, writing, listening, and reading. The school reserves the right to decline admission if it cannot meet an applicant's specific needs.

The school operates on a Monday to Friday schedule. Office hours are 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, while classes for nursery and kindergarten run from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, and elementary and secondary school classes run from 7:45 am to 3:00 pm. The campus features a green and open environment designed to support student health and learning. Facilities include classrooms, hallways, a library, a canteen, and Heisler Hall. Specialized learning spaces include a STEM laboratory, a science laboratory, an IT and robotics room, an art room, and a music room.
