Cathedral High School

Founded in 1918, the school is a Catholic institution in the Holy Cross tradition that emphasizes educating the whole person—mind, heart, and spirit. It is guided by nine Holy Cross Core Values and aims to transform students to have the competence to see and the courage to act. The school champions inclusion and maintains a diverse student body from across central Indiana.

The school offers a comprehensive curriculum with over 180 course offerings, including 32 AP classes and 19 dual-credit courses. Academic instruction is provided at three levels: honors, academic, and college preparatory. The program also includes a mandatory Christian Service component, where students engage in community outreach and implement service projects.

Graduates consistently gain acceptance to four-year colleges and universities. The school has been recognized as a four-time National Blue Ribbon Award recipient. Alumni are active in a large network and include leaders in business, community, government, and religious sectors.

The school provides a dedicated Learning Support Program designed to assist students with diagnosed learning differences. This program is integrated into the academic environment to ensure students receive the appropriate level of challenge and support.

The school operates on a modified block schedule consisting of 85-minute classes for blue and gold days, 65-minute classes twice a week for special activities, and 40-minute classes on green days. The academic year typically begins in August.

The campus features specialized facilities including the Innovation Center, the Joe O'Malia Performing Arts Center, and the Cunningham Fine Arts Center. Athletic facilities include the Welch Activity Center, the Mimms Auxiliary Gym, the Hasbrook Wrestling Center, and Brunette Park, which hosts baseball, lacrosse, softball, and soccer. Other campus landmarks include the Grotto, Loretto Hall, and the A.K. Shiel Student Life Center.

Students participate in a wide range of activities, including 68 student clubs, seven performing arts opportunities, and five student leadership groups. Leadership development is supported through roles such as class officers, Student Council, the Holy Cross Council, and the Student Athletic Board. Additionally, the school offers 27 sports teams, with a history of state and national championships.
