Meritton British International School is a small, family-based international school in Chiang Mai that balances a British educational experience with a core Values-based Education programme. It serves students aged 2 to 16, fostering a growth mindset and nurturing well-rounded individuals.

Teaching approach

Founded in 2018, the school integrates academic excellence with a Values-based Education (VbE) programme, which is central to its ethos. The school focuses on nurturing character, resilience, and empathy through daily mindfulness, values lessons, and life skills projects. It aims to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where students develop critical thinking and reflection skills.

Programmes

The school follows the English National and Cambridge International curricula across three stages: the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) for ages 3-5, the Cambridge Primary Curriculum (Years 1-6), and the Cambridge Lower Secondary programme (Years 7-11). Primary students engage in thematic "Units of Exploration" combining science, geography, and history, while secondary students prepare for IGCSE qualifications, with plans to expand to Cambridge International AS & A Level. Instruction is primarily in English, with Thai and Mandarin also taught.
