The International School of Como is a student-centred, private international school for students aged 2 to 18, serving as the only institution in the region to offer the full International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum. It provides a rigorous, globally-recognised education that prepares students for success in higher education and diverse career fields.

Teaching approach

The school’s educational philosophy blends the Inspired Education Group's approach, the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy, and the Reggio Emilia methodology for Early Years. It emphasizes nurturing both the mind and heart, fostering intellectual curiosity, and developing compassionate, globally-minded individuals. The school aims to instill values of pride, responsibility, honesty, and integrity while encouraging students to become active, reflective, and responsible lifelong learners.

Programmes

The school offers the IB Continuum, comprising the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme (DP). From September 2025, it also offers the IB Career-related Programme (IBCP) with seven business-related pathways. Students in Grades 2 to 11 may choose between an International pathway or an Italian pathway, the latter of which integrates the IB framework with the Italian national curriculum to lead to dual qualifications.

Outcomes

Students consistently achieve outstanding results in IB examinations, with pass rates and average scores that frequently exceed IB global averages. Graduates secure acceptance to prestigious universities worldwide, including institutions in Italy, the UK, and the US. Many students also earn the Italian 'Licenza Media' qualification, and a significant percentage of graduates are accepted into their first-choice universities.
